Thats a hard since I like some from both. Also Future is wild is in 3 separate periods while After Man is all in one time period.

I liked the Future is Wild a lot. After Man did have some good stuff, but I feel they didn't cover invertebrates as much as they could have been. There were too many instances of EXTREME convergeant evolution that bothered me. The striger bugged me a lot too. The Future is Wild also refered to Man o' War as a jelly fish, which bugged me a lot. When they were talking about bird evolution they showed a video clip of a pterosaur. *Palpitationz* Oh the innacurracies! I liked how the cephalopod's intelligeance finally got some screentime though. And they probably could replace primates if they had no competition on land, but the problem would be getting all of the vertebrates off the land. I'm not quite sure if a Megasquid could support itself though, cephalopods to have a cartilidge like structure but that would help that much with something the size of an elephant, and they never mentioned bone evolving so... But at least the invertebrates got screentime. I believe that Specworld needs it's own book/movie on Discovery Networks! I want to see over fluffed Arctic raptors!

I prefer After Man, feeling that the Future is Wild was slightly dumbed down for the kiddies - it was neat, though. Got the whole series off BitTorrent.

I've yet to find After Man on eBay. I only have New Dinosaurs, and so therefore I cannot vote on this one.

well oathinblood, its going to get dumbed down for the kiddies, a whole lot more. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EtDDcpEnARsand one of the reasons why future is wild struck me as unbelievable, is that how can a bird evolve from a glider (albatross), to a flutterer (roachcutter).

Oh carpal tunnel...... Ridiculous cartoon aside, the one thing that made me really disbelieve the future is wild was the gannetwhale. I mean that doesn't even make any sense! Their just saying, ok we made whales extinct so lets take gannets and turn them into whales! Sheesh!

I think its because they wanted it to interact with the Snowstalker which was in the Northern hemisphere and if they had say whale-penguins like in "After Man" they would not be in the same hemisphere.

Sheesh! as hydro said, after man did have the pelagornids, in my opinion the gannetwhale should have been a bit smaller (around otter sized) then it would be more believable. and another thing i have against future is wild, that the ecosystems and time periods should have been more detailed, by adding in more species in the ecosystems and more ecosystems in the time periods.

Actually I think neither are very realistic: Future is Wild has logical species but the time frame would seem rushed, such species could not evolved within 5 million years, while the species from After Man nearly completely ignore accepted theories about the evolution of species, specialized species suddenly changing to completely different niches and body structures.

I loved Future is Wild, but it had way too few species. More detailed ecosystems plox.
