I started making a planet with silicon based life forms on it, and the 1st and 2nd generations on one piece of paper.I've started on generation 4, and the cells I'm doing have kinda short descriptions, but I'm hoping to give them bigger ones in time.I just made this thread in case anyone had any ideas, or better drawing skills that I could borrow sometime, or has more ambition(I'm pretty sure there are a lot of you that have that!), or just wanted to look at whatever weird ideas might pop up.The planet is very volatile, as in having oceans of steel and magma near the equator, some occasional lakes of water here and there across the planet, some seas made of acid, and at the poles there is liquid nitrogen.

1) how is this planet possible? 2) what lives on it?

Silicon based life forms would be a whole lot tougher, so they could live through some really crazy conditions,(learned that from "the real science behind the X-files")and at the moment just cells, and I think I'll eventually get them named and described, but I know that they are mostly lithovorous, like a few of them that eat calcium in deep caves, and there are also a few that have flagellum that attract electricity.Yeah, this planet is crazy and has some problems.I actually got this idea from thinking "hey, it would be cool if there were nanovor in Sagan 4".

Well,I'm still stuck on gen. 4,but I have made about 15 more cells, and one promising new cell is one I think is called "Mechanicus Siliconate"that is in a way programed, and it makes energy by using a microscopic form of combustion(like in engines)and has a "battery".

I'm almost done with gen 4, but it's slow going. Can't figure out what the moon is going to be like, since I've already got most extreme climates on the planet already.

Yeah. I'm hoping that after gen. 10 (week 1) my mom will help me get a forum and website set up. Anyone who wants to join can if they want, (except for some of some of the weirdos at my school and my EXTREMELY annoying 2nd. cousin) cause I'm gonna need help coming up with species since I'm trying to get at least 3 descendants of species each generation for a bit to help things to diversify.

Wouldn't silicon-based life breathe out silicon dioxide (silica) which is a solid?

The Treeworms are some of my favourite animals. Why? Because they can moon the sky and not be embarrassed.

They are silicon based, but they still have a lot of carbon in their systems. So, um, would that be silicon-carbon dioxide?
