An article I found recently: http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2012/01/120106-harp-seals-global-warming-sea-ice-science-environment/

I would highly recommend reading it.

Le seals will have no choice but to migrate to land and become burrow dwellers, or become fully aquatic.

Sorry to be blunt, but while that is optimistic, it's missing the point that humanity is practically failing the Earth and severely damaging it. Too bad no one takes to good of care for Earth.

Sorry to be a pessimist.

No worries. Though I think in a dark humor way that humans not being good stewards is gonna screw them (and us) all over.

In the article it says ...

Quote
Harp seals are by no means endangered, and people hunt the animals to sell their fur, skin, and meat.

So despite of loss of habitat and human hunting they are not endangered?

Still, it's already bad enough they're being hunted. Plus, there are other polar fauna being screwed like Polar Bears, which are now Vulnerable.

Wellll in that case the seals still have a chance, since peoples need the seals for the above reasons. People generally try to protect something that they depend on for resources.

Its sort of like trees. People grow trees in tree farms in order to produce paper. The rain forests are being cut down to produce beef farms, not paper. So: cut down on hamburgers and take up origami!

Worst comes to worst we can send them to Antartica at least. The polar ice cap there will survive even in the worst case scenario

Bad idea, unless you were joking. Introduction of Species never has a good outcome.

Why make a seal preserve or something like that? Or, genetical engineering to the rescue (probably won't work out)!
