Long story short, I'm trying to make a trading card. I tried resizing the illustration for the card in GIMP, but the result was a REALLY blurry version of what I'd made. Anybody know how to minimize an image while retaining its quality?

It tend to work if you shrink it slowly and progressively.

I think PNG may be the best format for shrinking images.

-Nergali: No but may try (more info on this would be nice)
-MNIGJM: Please elaborate
-Hydro: Tried it in PNG (obviously didn't work). Though if you could explain how to do it properly I'd appreciate it.

If you need 400px but are at 1200px, shrink to 1000px then 600px then 400px.

I still don't know. All I know is that if you take a large image and make it smaller then it should look less blurry when made small. Note that a small image made bigger would make it look very blurry.
