I'm going with "some of them survive in the ash cloud and go on to live in the vents of the new volcanic biome". and who says if it lives on heat it dies? A heat driven chemical reaction that produces (eventually) ATP is not that far fetched.

All the species in both cave systems will go extinct and the new volcanic biomes will start out sterile and void of life.

Ok everyone who signed up to help compare the ecosystems please start so we can move on to week 22. When you finish please post the name of the region you checked and a list of all the species that went extinct in your region. Preferably in alphabetical order if you could for easy cross checking.

EDIT: Ok i sent out a PM to everyone who signed up. There is still Dixon open if anyone else wants to sign up to help.

And they'll all be when the methane hydrate destabilizes.

thermosynthesis is real, but there is no way for it to rapidly appear and even then a vent is cooler then a frigin' magma chamber

Their is one species I'm confused about. The beachskimo is the only polar species to go extinct, why?
