I think the main problem is just a lack of terms. Most are more like fern spores or even airborne seeds than say "pollen". However there are some linages that really do have pollen, which would be from the decedents of the Purple Poison Bush.

Producing spores asexually like a fern that simply grow into more of them, making them sporophytes, is perfectly fine... (though, of course, fern spores do not hatch into what we consider ferns, they hatch into gametophytes which them mix gametes and then THAT things offspring grows into the sporophyte fern...)

Honestly I really think that the pollen users should be wiped out (or replaced) because there is no sporophyte gametophyte generation switch off in Purple Flora like there is in Plants, meaning there should be no such thing as pollen... Spores carrying gametes (which are then captured by an organism and used to fertilize their own gametes to produce a new spore or even a seed) are fine, since the gametes are produced by the organism in the picture itself and so gets around the whole sporophyte -> gametophyte problem of true pollen.

http://wiki.mydigiview.com/index.php?title=Purple_Puffplant If I'm understanding correctly the Purple Puffplant mixes its gametes by releasing them inside spores (of course its descendant refers to it as pollen...)... that's basically what I'm getting at... Except you could have male gametes released in spores which are then picked up by an organism and used to fertilize a female gamete kept within it, this would allow it to still produce fruit and so on...

http://wiki.mydigiview.com/index.php?title=Xidhorchia The Xidhorchia and descendants for some reason seem to have lost the pollen anyway... Only other descendant of the Purple Poison Bush still alive is the Toxplage http://wiki.mydigiview.com/index.php?title=Toxplage ... Which probably should be evolved anyway.

This whole pollen issue arose because of the newly created Fuzztree http://sagan4.com/forum/index.php?topic=8341.msg61688#msg61688 having pollen...

I cannot speak for species I did not make but basically both the Fuzztree and Purple Puffplant release airborne male gametes into the air and when they touch another flora it gets fertilized and makes fruit. What would you call this method of reproduction?

Hm... I'm not sure, "Gametes Into The Air" could work, or "Sexual Spores" and it be explained that they are airborne male gametes... though that may be misleading... The gametes would obviously need some form of protection from drying out though, so maybe sexual spores could work as a term... the Tree Plents did a similar thing didn't they?
