Two words: Science Advisor. It would give people who want to participate in the actual project, but can't draw (like me), a chance. I haven't really fleshed the idea out yet... so any feedback would be appreciated.

you know, if you want to make creatures, but cant draw, you can just ask somebody else to draw the creature you want to make. for example, i made a plant called the river groveglobes, but i had trouble coloring it for some reason. so i asked hydro to color it for me. if you want to become a member, ill gladly draw your first submission for you.
but i do like the idea of the science advisor. im not completely happy with the extent of certain members knowledge of science... but what can i do about it. i think the science advisor idea might help, though honestly i thinkthat for these sorts of projects, each member should have to pass a science test along with the drawing test

You can do that. Its called the species idea thread. You post ideas, even full ideas and then team up with someone who can draw. They post your info with their picture and then it gets reviewed. You would not get to post in the organism submission section however you would get co-credit on wiki. The only downside is that you have to find someone willing to draw for you.

@Vorthon You should also try to practice your drawing skills so you can join the team and not have to depend upon someone else to draw for you. If you do not believe that you can improve just look at KingAcer's work. He started out with very limited drawings skills and now he is one of our best artists.

That sounds perfect for what I've been thinking. I haven't got much time to do this any more and its been that long it would take time to work out how the ecosystems are working right now.
I've been trying to figure out what I can do - my strength is in ecological knowledge, of how evolution works and why. I can draw but I'm not the best. So I wouldn't mind either making a description and giving it to someone to draw, receiving a description and making a picture for it - or advising someone (who may have just joined) on one of their creations. In that way I could feel like I’m still contributing and keeping Sagan 4 going with sound ecological foundations.
Anyone interested PM me, I would love to be given the title 'Science Advisor', though 'Ecology Advisor' might be more appropriate, as science includes medicine, geology, astronomy etc.

Sagan 4 must be one of the best and most inventive World Builders out there.

Dear god this, maybe not overly complex stuff, but at least knowledge of how energy and such is derived. You know, basics.

It would be hard, because they would be able to use google. Even if you did it real-time, say over Gabbly, you couldn't be sure whether or not they were cheating.

Any forum member can comment and post problems they see with species. I do not see why we need a specific "science expert". In addition existing team members should and have posted in the submission section if a species is not up to snuff. That's one reason we have an approval process. Note that we cannot please everyone in such a system. But it better than nothing.

Well Clarke, even if they googled it, they have learned something new and we know they can at least google stuff they don't fully understand.
