There seem to be a lot of forum adoption games where you attach sprites to your profile and they "grow" when other people click on them. I think we should have one of these. The organism would gain experience and then you'd be able to evolve it; if the species has multiple evolution paths then you could choose one of them. The number of organisms would increase along with the project and you could try to collect all Sagan 4's wildlife.

We'd need peolple who are really good at making creature sprites. Since many people use creature spriting skills to make fakemon, you should look for them (I've seen lots of these people on deviantart).

A little to amorphous, but good job. Also I think they should be in a 80x80 pixel frame. Probably needs some more shading too.

I read that they increased the sprite max to 80x80 to fit in more detail.
Edit: El-Moppo on Deviantart is great at creature-spriting, and he seems to like Sagan 4. Maybe we can ask him for help.

How about every time x people click on it, it goes along a random evolution path? And if it lands on an extinct creature with no descendents, then well, oops, no more growing for it.

No, I think people should manually evolve the organisms, and be able to choose the evolution path it takes (if it has more than one). The different paths will be marked by caption clues so if the organism has two seperate decendents, one who moves into the rainforest and one who changes to an omnivore from a herbivore, then the captions will say do you want it to move into the rainforest or do you want it to expand its diet to [insert new prey species].

Are you suggesting they evolve new, unapproved species?

No, you'd only be able to evolve into fully approved species (by this I mean actually posted on the wiki) and the caption clues would correspond to the descendants of the species. As new species are added to the wiki new evolutions would be unlocked for those particular species.
