Well it is assumed that the supercontinent cycle would produce a new supercontinent (nicknamed Pangaea Ultima or Pangaea II) sometime 200 myh, since the last one was 200 mya and the last one before that was 600 mya.

Well that's if we or aliens don't blow up Earth before then. Sentient/Sapient species have a way of screwing around with the natural cycles of things.

Go ask them on their forum, not here.

Why do people always assume that south america and north america are going to split off? To me it looks like it's moving north.

But a lot of images of prehistoric continental drift show South America moving north west.

Only by looking at these pictures, it seems to me that the two continents are barely holding together. North America is going north west, while South America is going south west. This is only if i used the information on this picture

Oh yeah. They have to dredge the canal all the time to keep if from getting filled in with mud and eventually flora.

If you look at modern tectonic movement, North and South America are splitting. Just because prehistory indicates a trend, doesn't mean it applies nowadays. In fact, it is believed that the tectonic movements of Earth goes in supercontinent cycles so it is quite possible that the two will split and reunite a number of times.
