Wow...150 pages now? That's amazing. I don't even think I'm in here with my first posted organism, since that was waaaaaaaaaaaaaay back on the original forum. So that just makes it all the cooler.
EDIT: Well, I guess I just made it 151. Haha....neat. Here's to another 151 pages!

maineiac! Love the art, one thing "be as twice as tall as it's ancestor." I don't think that "as" is needed.

Sorry I didn't see this thread, but I love science so much I just kinda melted in.Anyway, I have an idea for creature that came from the maw podion.Look at week 24 ideas to read my comments please, but basically it looks like this:take the maw podion and and kinda recline it so it looks like it is in an easy chair, but it's still stiff. Now get it 7 ft. off the ground, and give it 6 long spider legs, with the longest close to the head and going back, and the set near the end of it slightly smaller and facing forward. Then take a wasp stinger at the end of it with a hole in it to spray poison at prey.

You need to post your species with a picture/stats/description if you're trying to get into the team. Try paging through this thread to see what you need to do (check page 65 for my first submission )

The Maw Podion is long extinct. If you want to evolve a species please choose from the living ones which can be found here.

Either learn to paint on the computer, or use a simple scanner to scan the lineart or the fully colored picture
If you wanna try computer painting, try downloading GIMP (<= search that word and it'll explain itself). I use GIMP to color my linearts, or even the complete painting if its simple enough (aka, my 2 latest species)

Or if you have a scanner you can draw with color pencils.

My mom is going to install gimp eventually, hopefully today sometime soon.It really is driving me crazy that my mom keeps on not installing 'too complicated' she says.

Traversing Scuttler Creator: nicksb Ancestor: Scuttler Habitat: Global (Sagan 4 marine) Size: 3 cm. long Reproduction: Sexual, spawning, 2 genders Diet: Photosynthesis, omnivore The traversing scuttler split off from it's ancestor in the arctic sea.As the sea level was rising,It adapted to an amphibious form, and will only occasionally come onto land. One of their main adaptions that allowed them to spread so quickly is that they developed 10 small primitive jets that were developed from its far distant ancestor, the tiny swarmer's strainer system shoot water from them, and combined with its stronger muscles, allows them to swim much faster, sometimes up to 60 mph. if the current is right. Their larvae are spawned at the near bottom of the ocean. After the adults live there for 2 weeks, and they can be born in thousands, but only 1 in 50 survives. The larvae have no fins, just small legs along their body to crawl. They eat a large amount of minerals to make a tough shell on their back to keep predators away and keep it in the midnight and twilight zone, then start eating any carrion or dead plant matter they can find,a will also eat small prey if they can catch or find any. After 4 weeks they look more like their adult self, but still have their shell. After another 8 weeks, they will then lose their shell and start swimming upward to the daylight zone and finding prey and sea plants to feed off.Another 9 weeks, and then they are almost fully grown. They can then journey onto beaches to find food, which it will attempt to drag into the shallows to make it easier to eat.

Not necessarily bad, but you need more detail. Try to not use black as a whole body color, use slightly lighter colors.
EDIT: ok I actually took the time to read the description, and I see some problems: 1) You gave them a "super" ability that has no connection to their ancestor's anatomy. Its not just that you slapped on some jets, but that you then gave these jets an almost supernatual ability to produce enough thrust to shoot the scuttler at 100 mph speeds! Suggestion: create a transition between no jets=>jets. And justify their adaptation (tell the story of why they came to be) 2) You have to follow the "biome formula". This means giving the actual names of places they live. If they live everywhere, say Sagan 4 (global). But considering problem #1, you may not want to make these global. Suggestion: either keep them around the Otter vents, or rethink their location. 3) OK after relooking at your picture, I can see that its not all black. But the colors are dark enough that its still hard to make out. Suggestion: again, use lighter colors. Use shading and highlighting to make light look dark. 4) Giganitsm isn't something that happens overnight. It doesn't work like a growth boost for an individual; if that were the case, people would be doing more deep-sea diving to get large. In order for it to work, your species has to live only in the abyssal zone of the ocean. Suggestion If you want giganitsm, keep them in the vents. But don't say its part of the growth cycle

It's actally dark green with some dark blue stripes, if you look at it the right angle you can see it, its gills, and its water jets.
