I figure the deadness is because it's finals week for many of you. Mine starts next week.
For me, Its simply that I am busy right now, and don't have the energy to post species. That shall change this summer I think
2  Sagan 4 / Organism Submission / Gliding Gushstrider - Gen 153 on: April 13, 2013, 07:04:08 AM

Gliding Gushstrider (Ixodoidea paras)

Creator: RyanKoopa
Ancestor: Gushstrider
Habitat: Maineiac Volcanic, Maineiac Polar Beach, Maineiac Temperate Beach, Maineiac Peak, Maineiac Temperate Riparian, Maineiac Salt Marsh
Size: 11 cm Long
Diet: Haemotroph (Glacial Sauceback, Coalskin Skywatcher, Sapworms, Dartirs, Giant Spiny Wrigum), Mucivore (Sunstalks, Sapshrooms, Supershrooms, Talfuzz, Polar Orbion, Retigroenx, Boiler Glassdome, Maineiac Orbion), Scavenger
Reproduction: Asexual&Sexual (One Gender), Ovivioparous

The gliding gushstrider replaced its ancestor the gushstrider and has spread all over the island. It has developed a skin membrane on its 3rd finger(s) as well as its hind limbs. While this makes it a bit slower than its ancestor, it allows it to glide through the air. They use this new ability to land on prey, as well as escape predators. They can take off from the ground using both their front and hind limbs. However, this method of take off doesn't get them very far, so they prefer to launch themselves off the top of large flora or cliffs. 4 of their eyes have become much larger, giving them better depth perception. The other 8 eyes are by no means useless, as they allow gliding gushstrider to see around 180 degrees around at any given moment.

The diet of the gliding gushstrider is much more varied than its ancestor, encompassing plant as well as animal matter. It  uses the pigments they obtain from the plants, as well as the blood of animals, to die their “wings” in varying colors. Gliding gushstrider that live near the beach will also frequently scavenge on plants and animals that wash up from the sea. Although they can still produce asexually when times are tough, they have also developed a form of hermaphroditic sexual reproduction. Each adult organism has a prehensile spear on their chins which are used to inject sperm into the abdomen of another gliding gushstrider. Gliding sushstrider will often fight over which one has to give birth, stabbing each other with their spears until one manages to puncture the abdomen. When the young hatch they will drink blood inside the abdomen. Once they mature they eventually burst out of the abdomen, killing the parent.

Still, solar sails would certainly be useful for exploratory probes and such

It only lists replies. So the first post is not counted. Which means if you make a new topic it says 0 replies.
Weird, I could of sworn previous generations had 81 replies

Gen 150 had 81 replies because we had the Disaster take up 1 reply spot but there were still 80 species posted.
Doh! Crud, this really screws up my plans for this lineage. Ah well, I'll give it a shot anyway

Please re-post under gen 153. Gen 152 is now full.
It isn't until the post count reaches 81 in that thread. The reason? Your first post in the thread, the one that says; "Please post your submissions in this child forum and not in this thread. If your organism is approved, one of us will add it to this thread.

Please put the generation number in the thread title.

Post 80 per generation from now on!
"
Just think about it. Your intro takes up 1 post, and 81 - 1 = 80

The pictures great, but shouldn't the description be longer?

When uploading the pictures to the Wiki, please keep the file names the same as the species.
Sorry I was a bit lazy  Undecided
11  Sagan 4 / Submission Graveyard / Re: Graveyard -- All old submission comments. on: March 11, 2013, 05:17:07 AM
The board description says "Where all the old submissions go rest." but shouldn't it be, where all the old submissions go to rest?

13  Sagan 4 / Submission Graveyard / Re: Glowbulb Swarmer - Gen 153 on: February 23, 2013, 11:10:34 AM
There is an odd line to the right of the tails that you should probably get rid of. Other than that, it seems like a solid organism.
