I'm getting started on a October challenge creature based off Slenderman. Post Merge: October 18, 2012, 05:31:54 PM
Slendersquid Creator: nicksb Ancestor: Phantom Filtersquid, Colonial Filtersquid Size: Without tentacles: 1 meter With tentacles: 3 meters Weight: 400 lbs. Habitat: Jujubee Ocean (Trench Floor), Jujubee Ocean (Trench Zone), Jujubee Ocean (Trench Slope), Blarg Cold Seep, Jujubee Ocean (Midnight Floor), Jujubee Ocean (Midnight Zone), Jujubee Ocean (Midnight Slope), Jujubee Ocean (Twilight Floor), Jujubee Ocean (Twilight Zone), Jujubee Ocean (Twilight Slope), Otter Vents, South Jujubee Polar Ocean (Sunlight Zone), North Jujubee Temperate Ocean (Sunlight Zone), South Jujubee Temperate Ocean (Sunlight Zone), North Jujubee Polar Ocean (Sunlight Zone), Diet: Carnivore (Datirs, Field Swarmer, Heavycoat, Sapworms, Krillpedes, Cloudswarmers, Miniswarmers, Padlers, Bloister, Phantom Filtersquid, Cerulean Gillfin, Hithhiker Scuttler, Scuttleball Gillfin, Royal Scylarian, Diamond Pumpgill, Sucker Swarmer, Gillrom, Droopgea Trapinout, Fused-Shell Roj, Strainerbeak, Snatcherswarmer, Bejeweled Emperor Scylarian, Hullback, Tetracrusicruge, Spiny Roj, Sucker Swarmer, Marine Tamow, Tamjack, Rippletail, ) Reproduction: Asexual infestation The Slendersquid split off from it's ancestosr the Phantom Filtersquid and Colonial Filtersquid. It is an apex predator, hunted by nothing, nothing fearing it, for their prey never escapes long enough to inform others of it. Unlike their ancestors, the Slendersquid cannot change color, and do not live in social groups, (they will hunt together occasionally though) but they have a far more dangerous hunting ability that makes ambushing pathetic. Their brain has become so developed that it gives off a biological electromagnetic field that it uses to sense it's surroundings. It injects other animals with an electric neurotoxin through barbs on their "hands". When the creature is near the Slendersquid, the Slendersquid controls the creatures using it's electric field, forcing it to bring it food or to become food. This does not mean that they are useless in a fight however. Their tentacles can stretch five times their original length and are strong enough to bend metal, their skin is as strong as iron, and they can deliver a mild shock from their electric field. They reproduce by injecting a larger creature with their electric neurotoxin and DNA, which forms an embryo that feeds off the creature it is in, eventually bursting from and eating the creature. Their strange mouths are on their "hands", merely dozens of small holes with barbs inside. These are the babs which inject other creatures with their DNA and electric neurotoxin, and can also function as tongues. I'm going to get the picture and the prey items later.

Superskeletal Scylla The superskeletal scylla split frrom it's ancestor, the reef scylla, and spread across Mason. It's success came from the adapted protein liquid, originally fed to young, but now used to "remember" the designs for organs from the organisms that it eats. It then can grow those parts from it's body, gradually forming a second body around it's first, while the original body becomes more and more nervous tissue, eventually completely becoming the brain of the organism. They are very social, and live in large groups. They will often dig small rivers to places for them to have water, and some even "farm" the towering stiltbulb. They can live up to 12 years, and, nearing death, will instictively go to a place to die, many choosing the same place, forming large graveyards. They reproduce by laying an "egg" that explodes and produces spores. Many of the spores die in the explosion, releasing many different gasses into the air. When a living spore makes contact with another superskeletal scylla of the opposite sex, the two immediatly seek each other out, mate, then both produce an egg that hatches into a larva. Creator: nicksb Ancestor: Reef Scylla Habitat: Global (Mason) Size: 15 cm. Long Diet:Omnivore (Farside gildring, parasitic gildring, symbiotic gildring, symbiocrust, crustling, guildring, airbulb, northern gildring, southern gildring, crusticillus, toxic airbulb, hexdigger, eastern foldbulb, hexdriller, spineback scylla, helmethead scylla, towering stiltbulb, grasping teci, hexborer, mollisnite, network stiltbulb, modular gelatus, burrowing provuci, raskovnik, terranite, reef scylla), photosynthesis. Reproduction: Sexual, one gender, explosive spore eggs, then lay egg. Yeah yeah, I'll get the gen. # on there in a couple of days.

Way lucky! I've been trying to join for almost a year and you've almost done it in one post!!! Seriously though, nice job.
Meh people who have good art from the get go get in faster. Don't worry nick it took me well over a year to get in. For people like us it just takes persistance and a willingness to listen to and attempt to apply critisism. So you'll get there eventually as long as ya keep trying Yeah, but at least I'm going get a species in, and I'm going to see if it can apply for the month challenge, and I think it should make major changes to the ecosystem and environment of Mason. I've got a feeling this is going to be the one.

Okay, either today or tomorrow I'm going to post something that I'm hoping qualifies for the June bugs challenge. It is an organism that is a descendant of the Reef Scylla that uses the protein substance that it secretes to "remember" the design of the organs from the animals it eats to make a biosuit-like exoskeleton, kind of like in Independence Day.

A game where you get to make giant monsters on an editor similar to spore. You could then make special powers for your monster and classify it in a certain group. You could then create a city based on your liking on a similar editor, so you could make a gloomy cloudy big city, or a coastal village. City size would be chosen by the player. If you wanted you wouldn't have to make a city, and you could just live in an ocean trench, a volcano or other similar environment. You would control the monster and either become a dreaded threat, a savior, or be worshiped. You could then visit procedurally generated versions of other players cities. You can encounter player created monsters and either fight them, join them in attacking the city, or help defend their city. I am not sure what you would upgrade with a monster, but powers are probably the main choice.
I think this game would be tough to make, but I would buy it. If it did exist I would make a gigantic silver-blue bird-like reptile similar to an archeopteryx. It would spew a high powered silverish white ray of ultra-cooled breath that erodes at an enemies body or buildings. It could lower temperatures as it flies overhead. It could also create ice shards by flapping its wings.
What kinds of monsters would the rest of you make and what challenges do you think would be if Maxis tried to make this game.
I had an idea like this once, but you would just pick a location on the planet instead of creating one, it would be with cryptids instead of monsters, and you would get points for keeping your cryptid well hidden, killing other cryptids and animals, etc. One of my ideas was a crow-like creature that lives in New York City, and the only difference between it and a crow would be that the cryptid could fly at supersonic speeds and is able to shoot a sonic sonic blast from it's mouth.

Got it. The reason it didn't show up was because it was called a lithovore instead. Anyway, still not done with gen 4 (haven't been working on it much), but I do have big plans (It's a surprise!).
